Maritime Center of Excellence (MCoE) is an innovation driven entrepreneurship maritime organisation connecting talents, knowledge and resources within the Adriatic Sea region.

Our vision is to Reinvent the Blue by reinventing the maritime industry, from the initial concept development, design and engineering, building outfitting and commissioning, through service and operations to decommissioning and recycling.

Our target is the smart ship from the smart shipyard in the smart port in the smart city.

The MCoE team is formed of experts from the technology and maritime sector and is combined from passionate Naval Architects, Machinery Engineers, Electrical Engineers, IT experts, MBA’s, PhD’s and Innovators working closely together as a One Team.

Key strength of our work and solutions lies in a fact that it is being developed by the maritime industry for the maritime industry.

Lürssen group has opened one of the most modern engineering centers in Rijeka, Croatia, and this subsidiary currently employs about 40 qualified experts from Croatia. It was established to support the Lürssen shipyards, Germany, in meeting the continuing need to design mega yachts, from conceptual project support to detailed production design.

The experts of the Lürssen Design Center Kvarner work very closely with their German colleagues from the Lürssen Group in order to gain the best possible Lürssen experience. They are intensively trained in Croatia and Germany in order to be fully acquainted with the required high level of quality and a strong focus on details, which are also a trademark of Lürssen.

Rijeka was chosen as the location for the establishment of an established engineering office due to the fact that Croatia is recognized as one of the most recognized maritime and shipbuilding countries in the world with a long tradition in shipbuilding and engineering, especially in designing and building sophisticated prototype ships.

The new office further strengthens and expands Lürssen's engineering power, and members of Lürssen's Croatian team work as an integral part of Lürssen's design network.

Gitone Kvarner entered joint venture with ACI and established a company ACI-Gitone which won the public tender for concession on port of nautical tourism Porto Baroš. With the synergy of experience and knowledge by the two companies, largest marina for mega yachts in this area of the Mediterranean will be built in Rijeka.

Adriatic Croatia International Club, for marinas d.d. (ACI d.d.) is Mediterranean’s largest chain of marinas and Croatia’s leading boating tourism company. It started its business on July 1, 1983 with the basic business goal of realizing the program of capacity development and accompanying offer of nautical tourism services on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea.

22 ACI marinas are strategically spread throughout the Adriatic - from Umag in the north to Dubrovnik in the south. All of them continuously win awards in various categories every year, both nationally and globally. As many as two ACI marinas: Rovinj and Cres are categorized with a rare elite 5 anchors that guarantee customers the highest level of quality in terms of a number of special conditions and high standards of equipment and appearance of the space in which activities are performed, the way services are provided, content which the marina offers and ultimately in terms of applying the principles of environmental protection in everyday business.

All ACI marinas, except the seasonal ones, have a Blue Flag which according to strictly defined criteria guarantees sustainable management and administration of the sea and the land belt of a particular marina. In addition to berth rental services, each marina, in cooperation with business partners, which lease ACI's business premises, also offers a wide range of types of services such as complementary nautical services, restaurants, shops etc.
